SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is about all the ways you can improve your website to…
Getting Listed in The Major Local Search Directories
How often do you hear the advice to list your pet sitting business in Google Maps?
Well, I recently discovered a cool new website that helps automate the process by keeping tabs on your current exposure while presenting you with a list of the next steps to take.
The site is aptly named GetListed.org and a quick search retrieves any and all current listings you may have on the top four local search engines:
- Google Maps
- Yahoo Local
- Best of the Web
- MSN Live Search (now Bing)
The Painfully Easy Process
Visit http://getlisted.org and provide your business name and zip code.
Within seconds, you see exactly where your pet sitting business is – and is not – listed.
Helpful links allow you to easily add your business to any missing sites.
The top menu bar also gives you a healthy dose of useful information including a to-do list, details on each listing and reviews you may have acquired from each site.
A Listing Score gives you an approximation of how well you are taking advantage of all the free listing features these local search engines allow you.
Take some time filling in the gaps and bringing your site up to speed.
The Bonus Round
On the left side menu bar, you can spend all day reading articles related to getting the most out of local search.
If you really want to jump into the deep end, you can find links to companies that will help manage your listings (usually for a modest fee) by placing your info into dozens of local search sites.
At the very least, stop by GetListed.org and make sure your pet sitting business is listed in the four popular engines.
