Day 11: Brew City Dog Rescue

Day 11

Brew City Dog Rescue, Milwaukee

Brew City Dog Rescue is a group of Milwaukee volunteers dedicated to finding loving homes for stray and abandoned dogs in the local area.

Many of the dogs we rescue are on “death row” (high risk for being put-down/euthanasia). Their only crime is that they do not have a loving family to care for them. We primarily receive dogs from local shelters and owner surrenders.

Editor’s Note:

What really caught my attention from the Brew City Dog Rescue was a recent post on their blog.

The group worked with students in an ad class at the Eisner Museum of Advertising and Design, and their task was to come up with an ad campaign for the rescue group to use.

Needless to say, the winning entry is brilliant, gets the point across and is being turned into brochures to hand out.

It takes the concept of recycling and, well, I think the picture speaks for itself…

  1. What a fantastic idea! How creative students really are these days! I love the profiles you are doing of various rescues. Too often, they are overshadowed by the commercials on TV of the major animal advocates, HSUS and ASPCA. Your blog is a great tribute to all those other ones who do so much great work. Thank you!

  3. Thanks so much, Lisa, for the encouragement!

My wife and I recently rescued ‘Harley’ from our local shelter and I knew I wanted to do something to draw attention to the massive needs of rescue groups around the country.

My heart breaks when I read stories like the one of Georgia on your website http://coastalpetrescue.org/ – please keep us updated on her progress.

  5. Thanks for visiting our website! Georgia has been adopted, and her family sends me regular updates. She now sings and dances for her breakfast in the mornings! We are, however, still trying to raise the funds to pay off her vet care as it was quite a bit. Charitable giving seems to be way down this holiday season, and our pets are the ones paying the price. Here’s hoping we’ll have a few Santas come our way to help us out!

Happy Holidays to you and yours!
