The Modern Rules of using Flyers and Door Hangers for your Pet Sitting Business [video]

do flyers work for pet sittersWhat is the number one reason to use flyers or door hangers in your pet sitting business?

In other words, what are hoping to gain from it?

New clients, right?

Whether you are a solo pet sitter on your own, or a pet sitter looking to bring on ICs or employees, the goal is exactly the same:

To bring on new clients the best way possible.

One of the most common questions I receive when it comes to working with ICs is “How can I bring on an IC or Employee without the guarantee of work?”

And one of the most common questions I receive from solo sitters is “How can I land higher in the search engines?”

Both of these questions address the exact same issue: Gaining more pet sitting clients.

This new video addresses the popular topic of using flyers and door hangers to promote your business.

Inside this video, you’ll discover:

  • Why using flyers needs to be part one of a bigger plan (and what the bigger plan is).
  • How to increase the chances your flyer will get used.
  • The reason why timing is everything.

  1. Hey Josh

I personally stay away from direct mail marketing (aka flyer drops). They’re a huge waste of time, money and energy when there are more effective, cheaper forms of marketing available. The only way direct mail marketing (or so has been taught to me) is effective is when it is done consistently often. It takes about 6-7 “campaigns” done at a consistent rate (at least once a month) before you will see results.

It’s not totally ineffective. Not at all. It all comes down to the design of your flyer (does it draw people in, does it have a call to action, etc) as well as doing it often. Thus it can be quite expensive for the everyday pet sitter.

Not to mention, flyers are the domain also of hobby sitters. I’ve talked with plenty of cattery and kennel people … and they all do take note of the sitters who do flyer drops yet they took note of me over them because I actually bothered to meet with them. One word: networking.

Networking plus an effective (SEO as well as design) website are the two biggest ways to gain clients.

I tell people to do direct mail marketing when they can afford to do so consistently…

People do business with other people. Not a business card (or in this case a flyer).

      Van,
that’s one of the most spot on comments regarding this topic.
Consistency.  Just as a TV or radio campaign will rarely work if just
done once, the same can be said about flyers.
