How to Interpret Your Pet Sitting Website Analytics and Stats [with Video]

Website TrafficSome of the most popular questions I receive, as you can imagine, deal with the topic of SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

As pet sitters and website owners, it’s important to keep a steady eye on how your pet sitting website is operating in the search engines, and how visitors interact with your site once they arrive.

Google Analytics is one of the best ways to analyze how things are going for you, but there is more you can do from there.

One of my pet sitting website users sent me this email and I thought it beneficial to share with you.

She writes:

Hi Joshua,

I’m unsure how to interpret the web site hits data. What’s your take? How can I improve?

Thanks,
Heather

My reply:

Hi Heather,

Great question.

I would begin by looking at your Top Search Terms. These are the terms that visitors typed in to Google to find you.

I would then create content around those specific terms to be able to generate even more of that traffic.

For example, a search term I see in your stats is “pet boarding for aggressive dogs arvada”.

How insightful is that?!

If you do, in fact, provide service for aggressive dogs in that area, highlight this on your home page, with a link to the full page content (or blog post).

Write a post about how you love, accept and welcome aggressive dogs into your (or staff member’s) home.

Talk about what training methods or techniques you can provide for their aggressive dog. Write about the different causes of aggression and the various solutions you may have.

Also, provide additional tools or resources to help them control their dog.

The bottom line in that you simply want to become the solution to their problem. And the search terms within your analytics will usually highlight the potential client’s problem. In this case, it’s an aggressive dog.

You can also benefit by adding content on this topic whether you do or do not provide this service.

If you do not offer boarding for aggressive dogs, you can still attract these visitors by creating content on the topic and leading them to solid resources (perhaps you partner with a trainer in your area).

The bottom line is that if you are not tracking and monitoring your statistics, you are missing out on a whole host of insight on what your visitors and potential clients are looking for.
