Quick: How Successful Do You Think You Are?

think-successDr. Napoleon Hill. Think and Grow Rich.

If you’re not familiar with either of those names, it’s never too late to come along for the ride and enjoy the rewards.

“Think and Grow Rich” is Dr. Hill’s masterpiece book written more than 70 years ago, during The Great Depression. One of the best selling books of all time, his book is the result of more than twenty years of research and captures the essence of how success occurs and how anyone can achieve it.

After studying the successful paths of some of the world’s wealthiest individuals, Dr. Hill came to the conclusion that, “What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

Dr. Hill went on to state: Each of us is a composite result of the thoughts we have had to date.

The keyword in that phrase is ‘thoughts.’ As noted in the title of the book, what you think about all day long is what you become. You can change your circumstances simply by changing your thoughts.

If you think that your business will never succeed or that you’ll never gain new clients, you’ll find that you are most certainly right. However, if you allow your thoughts to remain positive in nature, you’ll quickly see that the world around you responds to your positive outlook and provides you with the necessary tools to achieve your goals.

So how do you go about changing your thoughts into only positive ones?

By habit.

That’s right. Just like anything else that becomes a habit through repetition, so can your thoughts. Weirdly enough, most of our thoughts are at the sub-conscious level and we are rarely aware of the conversations we have with ourselves inside our own head.

Here are 2 of the major contributing factors for making success a habit.

1) Frequency of Impression

As you know, repetition is the mother of memory. The more you repeat something, the quicker it becomes a habit. In this case, we are referring to changing your negative thoughts into positive ones through the use of frequency to create a habit of only positive thoughts.

The more times you can think positive, the quicker it will become second nature. While going about your day, try to be aware of what you are saying to yourself. What thoughts creep into your head?

When the more negative ones appear, like “My business is in the tank,” try replacing that with something like, “What can I do today to make my business better?”

The more times you are able to think in a positive light, the sooner it will become a habit for you.

2) Intensity of Impression

We all know that simply saying something doesn’t make it true.

When I was 9 years old, I got up the nerve to tell Cindy Engle that I loved her. She blushed and didn’t know what to say back.

“Just say you love me too,” I told her.

“OK, I love you too,” she replied.

I was thrilled. As far as I knew, Cindy was feeling the same way I was. After all, she said so herself.

The point is obvious. Unless you truly believe your thoughts, they will never become a habit. The intensity at which you form your habits will make all the difference.

Your thoughts need to be backed by your burning desire to succeed. They need to be fueled by a strong emotional state.

This will be the difference between a simple wish and a desire that you obsess about.

The more you obsess over your desires and work towards accomplishing your goals, the quicker success will become a habit for you.

Horace Mann once said, “Habit is a cable; we weave a thread of it every day, and at last we cannot break it.”

If you want to achieve amazing success with your pet sitting business, it all begins with your daily thoughts. Get into the habit of thinking positive often and with passion, and you’ll be well on your way to a wildly successful life!
