Pet Sitting Business Names: All You Need To Know – Part 1

business-nameChoosing a name for your new pet sitting business can be one of the most exhilarating tasks — or it can be one of the most terrifying.

Our aim is to make the process of choosing a business name exciting and stress-free while tapping into your creative side.

Some pet sitters fall short in this area and opt to name their business something bland, boring or drab.

They are missing out on a huge opportunity here.

Properly naming your pet sitting business is every bit of marketing. Your business name immediately sets an impression in the public eye.

A Hollywood Example of Marketing

Take Frederick Austerlitz, Caryn Elaine Johnson, and Margaret Hyra for example. Do you recognize these names? Perhaps you known them better as Fred Astair, Whoopi Goldberg and Meg Ryan.

These 3 Hollywood actors changed their names and opted for a name with pizzazz, punch and personality. Ask yourself why they changed their names?

It’s simply a matter of image. It’s about their image in the public eye.

Even more prominent in the music world, performers such as Sting, Prince, Madonna and Pink all understand the value of a name.

Choosing a wrong pet sitting business name will:

  • Create the wrong impression
  • Harm your profit margin
  • Confuse your potential clients

We’ll try to avoid all that!

On the other hand, the right business name will:

  • Set you apart from others
  • Distinguish your business
  • Position you in a positive light in the minds of potential clients
  • Have a positive impact on your business
  • Boost your profits and reputation

Today, we’ll aim to combine all that with the core of your personality to create a memorable and ideal name for your new pet sitting business. (Get the notion of going with ‘Robin’s Pet Sitting’ out of your head!)

Why [Your Name] + Pet Sitting Does Not Work

In the world of search engine optimization (SEO), it’s true that keywords in your domain name can help things along.  So the argument to name your business something like Susan’s Pet Sitting sounds enticing.

Here’s why that approach doesn’t work.

Going with a pet sitting business name like Robin’s Pet Sitting just so you can get the phrase ‘pet sitting’ in your domain name will do more harm than good.

While it’s true that a keyword in your web address can help in your SEO efforts, it won’t help any that the first impression your potential clients will be getting is less than powerful.

A name like Jo’s Pet Sitting says nothing about you or the style of service you provide, it does not leave an impression in anyone’s mind, and it is easily forgettable.

There are plenty of other powerful SEO tips for pet sitters you can utilize to position your new pet sitting business at the top of the search results without any sort of keyword in your business name.

Case in point?

My wife’s and I pet sitting business is named Alitia’s Animals.  No real keywords in the name or domain name www.alitiasanimals.com and yet we receive 100% of our business from our website.

We rank well for plenty of competitive keywords including ‘nyc pet sitter, nyc pet sitting, dog boarding nyc and cat sitting new york.’

When considering your pet sitting business name, opt for creativity and originality along with a powerful marketing message and you’ll be in perfect shape.
