Lisa, I am SO excited for you! Yes, you were able to find the correct answers. And you can absolutely do this part time, work as you wish. For the record, you can find insurance policies that will cover both you and your ICs, so it can go either way, really.

Get the ball rolling and keep in touch letting me know if I can help you along the way.

Hi, Joshua:

I found my answer re: pet insurance for IC's. None is needed! IC's pay for their own expenses, including insurance, business license etc. I am an IC in another industry. For some reason I thought pet-sitting was different. Anyway, so I removed my comment on youtube.

I think it would definitely be advantageous for me to hire IC's even if I only work the business part-time. Your 6 tips are invaluable, and as IC's, I wouldn't have to worry about training them. I would rather have business partners than employees.

I am interested in doing a pet-sitting business on a part-time basis to fund my yoga instructor course, which is over $3000., and go beyond that, as another stream of income in addition to yoga classes I would be teaching. Pets are my passion---especially cats, but I also love dogs. Anyway, my concern is not having to pay an IC, it is the insurance coverage. Insurance coverage for me is over $600 per year. Since I would be doing this on a part-time basis, I don't want high overhead. What would I do in this case? I have already posted on You Tube. Thank you again. Your tips are fantastic!. The partnership one really got me! I also like the comment you made about responsible business people" plan for the worst and hope for the best." You are very wise.
